Sandiaga Complains about High Education Costs and Lack of Teacher Welfare
Kolom Fakta. Vice President number 02, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, attended a discussion about education at FX Sudirman Mall, Jakarta, Wednesday night. In the discussion, Sandiaga highlighted the high cost of education in the country.
According to Sandiaga, one of the effects of the high cost of education is that there are many people whose education levels are not in accordance with age. For example, 9 year olds who should have been in the 3rd grade of elementary school, but still in grade 1 elementary school.
In discussing education, this condition is called pure participation rate (APM). Sandi said, the region with low APM was North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands. The finding was during his tenure as Deputy Governor of DKI.
"One of the biggest homeworks in Jakarta, especially the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands regions, the APM is still low compared to other metropolises," said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga also heard complaints from DKI PAUD teachers about welfare. In the future, he will pay attention to the welfare of the teachers.
"Earlier a lot of inputs were also related to PAUD teachers, how can we improve our welfare. To provide improved welfare and fulfillment of rights for PAUD teachers, and also some private teacher colleagues who want the existing gap between private teachers and the ASN (PNS) teachers can be reduced in the future, "said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga added, the welfare of PAUD teachers is an important matter. Because, this is an effort to educate the nation as in the 1945 Constitution must start from an early age.
"And our concern is that we can truly realize the purpose of educating the life of this nation and realize it in 2019 under the leadership of Prabowo-Sandi," said Sandiaga.
The discussion was also attended by Professor of Jakarta State University Prof. Arief Rahman and PAN politician Tubagus Dedy S Gumelar aka Miing. Also present were DKI Jakarta Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers.
