Logistics Costs are Expensive, Government Infrastructure Hasn't Kicked?
Jurnal Fakta. Logistics costs in Indonesia are the highest in Asia. The government must encourage infrastructure development to reduce the tariff.
According to the Indef Economist, Bhima Yudishtira, the government must build infrastructure more actively, especially for goods. Because, currently development is still oriented to the transportation of people.
"Priority is to build logistical infrastructure rather than transport people. Currently in Indonesia it is still focused on people's transportation even though what is needed is goods," he told detikFinance, Tuesday.
In addition, there are also other ways such as subsidizing toll rates on trucking. So far, said Bhima, there are still many trucks that do not use the toll road because of high tariffs.
Therefore, the government should provide subsidies or lower tariffs for trucks or logistics transport compared to private transportation.
"Subsidies for toll tariffs for trucking. Subsidies can be through regional government funds. So far, there are still many trucks that do not use toll roads because they are expensive. Even though the toll road function is to facilitate the flow of logistics," he said.
Finally, the way to reduce high logistics costs is that the government is expected to overhaul internal bureaucracy at the port. This is to speed up the loading and unloading time at the port or dwelling time.
"Bureaucratic reform in customs is to speed up the process of pre clearances in ports or dwelling time," he closed.
