Minister of Trade: Minister of Agriculture Requests, RI Imports of Corn 30,000 Tons
Lensa Aktual. The government re-opened the tap to import corn for animal feed. The agreed quota is 30,000 tons.
The Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita said the import decision was taken from a coordination meeting (coordination meeting) involving a number of ministers, including the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Trade, the Minister of BUMN and the State Logistics Agency.
He said, the government reopened imports at the request of Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman. Because, the supply of corn for animal feed is lacking.
"Because it is not enough, the Minister of Agriculture said he asked for imports, there in the coordination meeting," said the man who was familiarly called Enggar at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Monday.
Enggar does not explain how much corn is needed for animal feed. To be sure, the import decision was carried out together.
"Coordination Meeting, you agreed to coordinate. Coordination Meeting, not my will," he said.
"The coordination meeting decided to be all mutus and that was a request," he added.
After the decision was made on imports, Enggar explained, Bulog Perum would ask permission from the Ministry of Trade (Ministry of Trade). After that, the Ministry of Trade will provide import permits.
Enggar said, Bulog had requested the blessing of the Ministry of Trade for this import.
"Bulog already, and I have prepared it. I have not signed it, but it is prepared today, it feels right online," he concluded.
In addition, corn imports for animal feed are not the first time the government has done it. Previously, the government opened 100,000 tons of corn imports.
Import reasons
Enggar himself did not explain in detail the reasons for the import decision. What is clear, he said, is that imports are due to lack of supply.
"If it's not lacking, what are the imports?" he said.
Enggar asserted, this import was not his own decision. However, the import was decided at a coordination meeting (coordination meeting) involving the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Trade, Minister of BUMN, and State Logistics Agency.
After this import decision, then the Bulog Corporation submits a permit to the Ministry of Trade (Ministry of Trade) for imports.
"After the coordination meeting decided, the procedure for Bulog asked to be issued based on coordination meetings, so we took it out," he concluded.
